Deck Repair and Refinishing in Colorado

Deck repair ranges from loose boards and railings to worn stain and sealant. The companies below say on their websites or Maps listings that they repair or refinish decks.

Whether a repair needs a permit depends on where you live, so ask the company or call your building department before work starts. Denver ties its deck permits to height: a zoning permit from 12 inches off the ground and a building permit from 30 inches.

In wildfire areas, the Colorado State Forest Service suggests clearing leaves and needles from decks, raking flammable debris from a 5-foot radius around the deck, screening the space under it with 1/8-inch metal mesh, and keeping firewood off the deck and out from under it. Ask whether the company replaces boards, framing or railings, or only cleans and stains, and whether its work carries a warranty.
